PBS Graduation SpecialHere is the link to the website which will be updated as more information becomes available and special guests are confirmed.  Seniors can submit videos through this website as well – they will be collecting general videos “memorable sports play, theatrical performance, cheerleading, debate, homecoming, or a video of how students have been getting through this crisis” and videos for a song competition.

  • More detailed information to follow.
  • Drop-off days will be June 13 and June 16 by appointment only.
  • Safety precautions are essential and will be outlined soon.
  • All materials owed to the school must be returned before diplomas are issued.
  • Chromebooks, chargers, textbooks, library books, anything else that belongs to the school are expected to be returned.
  • Clean RINI Class A blue scrubs and unwanted or outgrown scrubs are always welcome.

Diplomas and certificates will be mailed to students once all graduation requirements have been fulfilled and once all materials have been received or replacement costs paid.

  • We are continuing to work with RIDOH to determine how and when RINI students will be able to complete clinicals and state testing for CNA and EMT licenses.
  • It is important that all eligible students continue with whatever is offered to earn licensure.  More will be shared as we have the information.  It is anticipated that some opportunities will be presented over the summer.
  • White coats will be mailed to students who have earned the license already.
  • Academic grades at RINI are a reflection of learning targets/standards only.
  • Students who need additional time to complete assignments may be given an “I” Incomplete as a final report card grade.  This will allow additional time for the coursework to be completed and the grade will be changed to a standard grade within a few weeks of resolution of any challenge or hardship, or as soon as possible.
  • The final end of course assessments will be cumulative.  This allows additional opportunities to demonstrate mastery.  If a student has previously demonstrated mastery on specific standards/learning targets, and performs poorly on some targets on the final assessment, the teacher needs to determine if there is valid evidence of mastery and can adjust the final assessment grade as appropriate.
  •  Performance-based exams will be used whenever possible, and students will have the choice and varied opportunities to demonstrate mastery of the course.  Under certain circumstances, and for medical situations, students may be excused from the final assessment at the scheduled time and allowed additional time to complete the assessment and the course.   Students will receive an “I” for the final and an “I” for the course until such time as all course requirements are completed and a regular grade will replace the “I”.
  • Students who are failing classes and are in danger of not graduating should connect with Ms. Keating as soon as possible so that appropriate plans can be made.
  • Failure to meet learning targets presented in quarter 4 will result in identifying supports in the current and subsequent school year, but will not be punitive.  Students will not fail a class due to failure to meet quarter 4 learning targets, rather, they will receive an “I” incomplete and will have additional time to make up the assignments if needed.
  • Students can fail a class if they failed to master learning targets prior to the emergency remote learning situation, and if they fail to master them by the end of the school year.
  • Students can bring up their grade by mastering learning targets, both new targets presented in quarter 4 as well as learning targets presented previously during the school year, but new content presented during Distance Learning will not affect a final grade to be lower than it was on March 13, 2020.  Assignments not submitted or not mastered from quarter 4 will be marked “I” and that will cause the final grade to also become “I” or “F” (if Q1-Q3 standards are not demonstrated on the Q1-Q3 assessments or on the final assessment.
  • Students should make every effort to complete all assignments by June 9, however in situations where there are extenuating circumstances and when additional time is needed, a plan must be in place for the student prior to that date.
  • If teacher support is needed for students or if grading of late work is required after June 17, specific approval of the plans for those students must be approved by the CAO.
