Nursing
Health care is the fastest growing industry in this country and most certainly in Rhode Island. The RI Department of Labor and Training forecasts that by 2024 our state will need over 4,000 nurses both, to replace nurses retiring, and to fill a growing need. At the same time, the perennial challenge of keeping high school students engaged and preparing them for these high demand careers remains challenging.
The Rhode Island Nurses Institute Middle College Charter High School, located in Providence, was created to solve these problems by offering an opportunity for RI students found nowhere else in this country. Founded in 2011, ours is the first charter school in the country dedicated to the nursing/ health care professions, and the first "middle college" to be created in Rhode Island.
